Introducing Chontaduro ( Bactris gasipaes ), also known as the peach palm fruit . Our chontaduro comes from Cuatro Esquinas, El Tambo, Cauca , in the heart of southwestern Colombia, a region renowned for producing the most prized variety in Colombia, Central and South America. This fruit is carefully cultivated and processed by the Association of Cacao and Chontaduro Agricultural Producers (APACH) , guaranteeing quality, sustainability, and community origin.
The chontaduro is a small drupe measuring between 3 and 6 cm, with shapes ranging from ovoid, conical, and heart-shaped. Its clusters can contain between 80 and 100 fruits, with vibrant colors ranging from orange to red, yellow, and green. Its dense, fibrous pulp, with a mild, slightly nutty, peach, and mango flavor, is enjoyed cooked or raw. When cooked, it acquires a creamy texture similar to pumpkin or sweet potato.
