Chontaduro Flan

A creamy dessert, bursting with tropical flavor and a hint of citrus. Perfect for rounding off a special meal or surprising with a unique flavor.

🍽️ Ingredients (4 servings)

  • 50 g of chontaduro flour

  • 3 eggs

  • 400 ml of milk

  • 400 g of sugar

  • 1 tablespoon of water

  • Juice of 1 lemon

🍯 Preparing the caramel

  1. In a small saucepan, simmer:

    • 1 tablespoon of water

    • 4 tablespoons of sugar

    • The juice of 1 lemon

  2. Cook, stirring constantly, until the caramel thickens and turns golden.

  3. Pour the hot caramel into the mold where the flan will be made, covering the entire base.

🍮 Preparing the flan

  1. In a bowl, mix 200 g of chontaduro flour with the cold milk.

  2. Add the eggs and beat until the mixture is well incorporated.

  3. Strain the mixture to obtain a finer texture.

  4. Pour it into the caramelized mold.

🔥 Cooking

  1. In a large pot, add hot water until it covers ⅓ of its height.

  2. Place the mold with the mixture inside the pot, making sure that the water does not enter the flan (bain-marie).

  3. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 1 hour.

❄️ Rest and decoration

  • Allow to cool to room temperature.

  • Refrigerate for at least 12 hours .

  • Decorate with pieces of chontaduro and a little more caramel on top before serving.

  • Preparation: 30 minutes

  • Cooking: 1 hour

  • Cooling: 12 hours
